Innovative Usage of Vibratory Feeders – Feeding of large Plastic Caps

Feeding of large parts poses a problem in a vibratory bowl feeder. This is due to the fact that the maximum track width of the bowl is restricted as otherwise, the parts can jump if the track width is too large or else proper movement of the parts too would be a problem. However, Elscint has developed a special vibratory bowl feeder for large caps having diameter of more than dia 100 mm, even upto dai 125 mm. Plastic Caps require feeding for automatic capping machines as well other special pharmaceutical and consumer goods feeding machines. These caps have to be oriented in one particular direction, which can either be open side facing sky or open side facing ground or even the open side facing center of the bowl or away from it. Speeds or the feed rate achievable in case of such large caps is about 60 to 80 caps per minute depending upon the size of the plastic cap. As most of the caps come out in “open side facing sky” orientation, they need to be twisted in 180 degrees to change the orientation to “open side facing ground” orientation. For this Elscint has developed a very versatile tooling which can twist caps of any diameter in 180 degrees or as required
